The rush of the holiday season is here, are you ready? With Small Business Saturday, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Christmas occurring over the next few weeks, you need a plan in place for all the holiday shoppers. We’ve compiled a list of helpful ways to make the day go smoothly, as well as a few ideas to maximize your holiday sales!

Black Friday

Black Friday is typically a sales day for big box retailers, but with a few ideas, you can make your numbers match theirs! Stock your store with Christmas decorations and offer deals for arrangements, flower subscriptions, and referral code discounts.

Utilizing Social Media

When planning your social media content for promoting Black Friday, consider including graphics of what deals you will be offering. If you are closed for the holiday, make sure to list this information on your social media, update your hours on Google, and post it on your store window!

Black Fridays are full of chaos, so walking in and out of stores with a large vase may be impractical for most browsing customers. Create a line of small, medium, and large bouquet styles with water picks to offer an option for convenience. If your shop is closed for the holidays, consider partnering with a local boutique, bistro, or pastry shop for a “flower pop-up” shopping option.

Small Business Saturday

Make an impact. On Small Business Saturday, highlight what makes your flower shop unique. Take a few moments to reflect on your brand and how to further extend your business’ reach.

Utilizing Social Media

In the days leading up, post regularly on social media to get the word out and highlight the history of your business. Showcase old photos of your staff, tell stories about when you first opened your flower shop, and invite friends and family to share your flyers or deals. Create graphics of your shop, share photos of what you have for sale, and push offers online to get people in your door!

Perhaps you’ve already tucked the fall decorations away and dusted off the garland, but if you haven’t, now is the time! Have plenty of decorations, like ribbons, wreaths, and ornaments for sale since it is still early in the Christmas season. Consider incorporating a few activities in your store like a gift wrapping station or “make your own wreath.” If you have a partnership with another local business such as a coffee shop or bookstore, set up a small stand with grab & go bouquets in their stores!

Cyber Monday

Cyber Monday is primarily an online sales promotion, so adding discounts to products and arrangements that are sold on your website is a great way to increase flower sales.

Utilizing Social Media

Share photos and videos of your Christmas arrangements, wreaths, and winter bouquets to showcase your work. Post photos of previous workshops, flower subscriptions, and behind the scenes of any classes you may offer.

Stock your store with plenty of Christmas and New Year decorations. With Cyber Monday also being the first day of December, now would be a perfect time to offer deals for flower subscriptions that begin in January! You could even offer a promotion like “order now and receive a free holiday arrangement!” As for a general discount, listing a limited time offer of “20% off all online orders” can increase orders and make up for having been closed for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Hanukkah & Kwanzaa

While these holiday arrangements may not be as popular as Christmas arrangements, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa are important winter holidays to consider. Plan ahead and order flowers in the white and blue color scheme, as well as warm oranges, reds, and yellows.

Utilizing Social Media

For social media posts, display what arrangements you have to offer for these holidays. Share videos of behind the scenes in creating bouquets, arrangements for events, or even a graphic simply saying “Happy Hanukkah” or “Happy Kwanzaa!”

If you sell Hanukkah or Kwanzaa products, offer a discount as the holidays near. Consider offering deals for Hanukkah events or Kwanzaa parties.

Christmas

Utilizing Social Media

Post regularly in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Let your customers and followers know any changes to your store hours, as well as any closures. As for social content, consider running a “12 Days of Christmas” giveaway to appeal to followers, increase engagement, and draw people into your flower shop. Offer small discounts for people that follow your account or mention a previously posted “code word.”

As Christmastime winds down, offering discounts or deals on your seasonally specific products will help to clear your store of leftover products. Consider including giveaways for your customers and social media followers.

New Years Eve

The holiday season may be coming to a close, but every good florist knows now is just the beginning.

Utilize Social Media

Post recaps on social media highlighting moments from the previous year. Show behind-the-scenes videos, event set up photos, or employee highlights. Create a series of “Top 10 Arrangements of 2025” to showcase your hard work.

In preparation for Valentine’s Day, share photos of arrangements and your business to get a great step forward in your sales.

Begin shifting your store decorations to display Valentine’s Day products, it’s never too early! Start advertising and creating “order early” deals and discounts for your new or returning customers!
